The coming 14th of September will
mark the 12th death anniversary of Pt. Tika Lal Taploo. It was on this day
in 1989 when Islamic Terrorists in Kashmir gunned down Pt. Tika Lal Taploo
and conveyed their first explicit threat to the existence of Kashmiri
Pandits. That was the first gruesome sign of things to come for Kashmiri
Pandits in the Valley of Kashmir. That was Islamic Terrorism's first
explicit threat to the Kashmiri Pandit's life, dignity and honor. And that
was not the last.
It has been twelve years since
Kashmiri Pandits were hounded out of their homes and hearths and forced to
live as refugees in their own country. And during these twelve
years, not much has been done to alleviate the sufferings of Kashmiri
Pandits. All the successive central and state governments have completely
neglected this forsaken and endangered community. And not much has been
done by organizations like Amnesty International and Human Rights
Commissions either. None of these so-called Human Rights organizations
have bothered to talk about the violation of human rights of this
community.
There has been an
escalation of ghastly violence against Hindus by Pakistan-sponsored
terrorists in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The most recent
series of incidents in the Jammu region has included massacres of
scores of Hindus and beheading of priests. This follows the pattern in
Kashmir valley, where over 350,000 Hindus were hounded out by
Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in 1990.

Post-cold
war America has become along with militarized Pan-Islamism as the new
source of destabilization for the countries of the third world. It sells
the balkanising proposals as being the victim country’s national
interest. US has already soiled its hands in the Balkans, Central Asia
and South-West Asia. Its new strategy is to manipulate the victim
country’s civil society and make its dangerous proposals acceptable to
the people there.
